If you've ever tried to 'theme' the ExpressionEngine Discussion Forum Module, you'll understand the definition of the word shambles.
Scaffold is the result of several weeks of painstakingly removing erroneous markup from the theme view files, and giving you the developer leaner html and more css hooks to style the forum to how you want it.
Scaffold in the wild
At the time of writing, Scaffold has been used as a starting point on the following installs:
Drop the scaffold folder into
/themes/forum_themes/, and activate via the cp.
Visit: Add-ons → Modules → Discussion Forum → Default Preferences → Theme Preferences → Default Theme → Scaffold
The first thing you'll want to do is update the header files, sort out your paths and customise the menu etc. You can find those files in
html_header.html you'll need to update the paths if your theme folder is not in the root:
top_bar.html you'll need to edit the main header file of the site to suit your needs.
Please note my support policy:
- If something is not behaving as intended, please verify that it is an issue with Scaffold first - try switching the forum theme to one of those supplied by EllisLab and trying again. If the issue only exists within Scaffold, post a ticket on Devot:ee and I'll do my best to help you identify and resolve the problem.
- You are the developer and it is assumed you are proficient in writing html & CSS. What you are buying is a vanilla theme, ready for your markup - not assistance from me to implement a design, or to fix a rendering issue in IE7 that you may have introduced.
If you haven't tried Scaffold - why not take it for a spin see what it can do. For $40USD and a 30 day money back guarantee, the folks at Devot:ee will hook you up, yo.
